View charger details

The charger detail screen is where you go to start charging, check on a session you’ve already started, or get directions to a charger you haven’t reached yet. This tutorial walks you through what each part of the screen does and which actions are available.

  • The Polaris Express iOS app, signed in.
  • A charger to open — either from your charger list or from a scanned code.

Goal Read a charger's status and act on it

Time~3 min

  1. Open the charger

Tap a charger from your list to open its detail screen. The page header shows the charger’s label, followed by a hero panel with the charger’s connectors and current state.

The hero panel shows the charger's connectors and live availability.
  2. Check availability

Look at the area below the hero to find out what you can do:

    • Available — you’ll see a green Start charging button at the bottom.
    • In use by you — you’ll see an active session card with a live timer and a red Stop charging button.
    • Offline or Out of service — you’ll see a notice explaining why, and no start button. You can’t start a session until the charger comes back online.
    • Unmanaged charger (for example, a Tesla Wall Connector) — you’ll see plug-in instructions instead of a start button. These chargers don’t take commands from the app.
  3. Get directions (optional)

If the charger has an address or coordinates on file, a navigation icon appears in the top-right toolbar (the arrow-in-a-diamond). Tap it to open Apple Maps with driving directions already set.

If the charger has neither an address nor coordinates, the navigation icon is hidden.

  4. Refresh the status

Tap the circular arrow in the top-right toolbar to refresh. You can also pull down on the screen to refresh. Use this if you’ve just plugged in your car and the screen still shows the old state.

  5. Start charging

When the charger is available, tap Start charging at the bottom.

If you have a reservation on this charger, the button reads Start charging (Your name) so you know which account the session will bill to.

If your account can charge on behalf of more than one customer, a sheet appears asking which one to use. Pick one to continue.

  6. Stop charging

While a session is running, the screen replaces the start button with a red Stop charging button and shows a live session card with kWh delivered.

Tap Stop charging. A confirmation dialog appears showing how many kWh have been delivered so far. Tap Stop charging again to confirm, or Keep charging to cancel.

You’ll know each action worked when:

  • Refresh — the hero animates to the new state and the timestamp updates.
  • Start charging — the start button is replaced by a live session card with a running timer, and the bottom button changes to Stop charging.
  • Stop charging — the session card disappears and the Start charging button returns.

The Start charging button is missing. Check the area below the hero. If the charger is offline or out of service, the button is hidden on purpose. Wait for the charger to come back, or pick a different one. For unmanaged chargers (like Tesla Wall Connectors), the app can’t start a session — follow the on-screen plug-in instructions instead.

An error banner appeared after I tapped Start or Stop. The banner shows what went wrong. Try Refresh from the toolbar to make sure you’re looking at the current state, then try again. If the error mentions a connector or reservation, check that you have a current reservation if your site requires one.

The navigate icon isn’t there. The charger doesn’t have an address or coordinates saved. Ask your site operator to add a location, or use your own map app to get there.
