Sign in by scanning a QR code
If someone has handed you a Polaris Express user-card sticker, you can sign in to the ExpresScan app by pointing your iPhone Camera at the QR code on the sticker. No password, no email link. This guide walks you through that one-time setup so the app remembers your iPhone and you can start a charge straight from your home screen next time.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- An iPhone with the ExpresScan app installed.
- A user-card sticker with a QR code on it, given to you by whoever invited you (a friend, family member, or site host).
- The iPhone Camera app — the built-in one. You don’t need a separate QR reader.
Goal Sign in to ExpresScan by scanning your user-card QR code
Time~2 min
-
Open the iPhone Camera
Open the Camera app on your iPhone. You don’t need to switch modes — the standard Photo mode reads QR codes.
-
Point the camera at your QR sticker
Hold the phone so the QR code fills the middle of the viewfinder. After a moment, a yellow banner appears at the top of the screen with a link that starts with the Polaris Express address.

The Camera recognizes the sticker as a Polaris Express user link. -
Tap the banner to open ExpresScan
Tap the yellow banner. iOS hands the link to ExpresScan and the app opens to the sign-in screen.
-
Wait for sign-in to finish
ExpresScan reads the public ID from the link and sends it to the server along with your iPhone’s name, model, and iOS version. The server creates your session, registers this iPhone, and sets up a charging tag for it — all in one step.
You’ll see a brief loading state, then the app drops you into the main tab view.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”You’re signed in when the app opens to its main tabs instead of the sign-in screen. The iPhone now holds a device token in its Keychain, so the next time you open ExpresScan it will go straight to the main screen without asking you to scan again.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The Camera shows the banner but tapping it opens Safari instead of ExpresScan. Install ExpresScan from the App Store first, then scan the sticker again. iOS only offers to open the app once it knows the app is on your phone.
ExpresScan opens but shows an error message. Tap the sticker once more from the Camera. If the error keeps coming back, the sticker may have been revoked by whoever gave it to you. Ask them to issue you a new one.
